Riverview Practice is currently a 4 Partner Practice supported by a Nurse Practitioner, three Practice Nurses and a team of 10 office staff, caring for approximately 7700 patients.

Patients are free to choose to see any doctor in the practice but in an emergency will be seen by whoever is available.  We advise that you try to see the same Doctor if you have to be seen more than once with a particular problem. For further information see our doctors and nurses.

The Practice is located within a purpose built modern Health Centre with easy access for the disabled and ample parking.  A wheelchair is available – please ask at Reception if you wish to use this.

The building is shared with a single doctor practice and an NHS team; including District Nurses, Podiatrists and Health and Social Care staff.

Caithness General Hospital is very close to the Practice.  The hospital provides General Surgery, General Medicine, Accident & Emergency, Care for the Elderly, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Psychiatric Services.  Full laboratory services are available within the hospital as well as diagnostic radiology facilities, ultrasound work and a physiotherapy department.  It also offers regular out-patient clinics in Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Rehabilitation, Ear, Nose and Throat and Paediatrics run by visiting Consultants.

The Practice works under the GMS Contract and also offers a number of Enhanced Services including:

Diabetes Care

Drug Misuse

Minor Surgery

Alcohol Users

Anti-Coagulation

Care Home

As a Training Practice, training and education is integral to Riverview’s ethos.  It is committed to education across all learning groups including Medical Students, GPST1s and GPST3s.  All of the partners currently participate actively in training programmes with tutorials, assessment or advice and discussions about patient management.

The Practice also undertakes non-NHS work.  For further information please see Non-NHS Services.
